Logistics – a part of everyday life

Logistics is a part of everyday life with Redlogik.

There’s nothing like a strong cup of espresso to lift your spirits and get you through a long day. As you sip down your delicious cup, stop a moment to think of the long journey of your coffee beans. From the Columbian coffee plantation all the way to your favorite café, the coffee beans have come a long way and it has made this journey smoothly and successfully because of efficient logistics.

Logistics affects our daily lives, even if we do not realize it. Every industry needs and uses logistics at some point in business. For the coffee beans to reach your cup, it has had to travel through cargo ships, planes, trains, trailers, and trucks, and it is all part of the logistics supply chain and it is the responsibility of the logistics manager to ensure there are no kinks in the process.

Effective logistics management is key to business

Logistics management is that part of the Supply Chain Management process that plans, implements, and controls the efficient, effective forward and reverse flow and storage of goods, services, and related information between the point of origin and the point of consumption in order to meet customers’ requirements. (Maciek Nowak, 2015).

Logistics does not involve the transportation sector but can be applied to every industry that is involved in the import and export of any kind of goods. And because of this, the logistics industry is one of the most important industries in business as any product that you see in any store in any part of the world, would have got there through some form of logistics support. The same goes for any purchased item in your home.

Every day millions of goods around the world, travel thousands of miles, through precise transportation networks to reach their final consumers in a timely manner. And nothing would have been possible without effective logistics and supply chain management.
